Author's Guidelines
Review management at IJCIR is primarily under the direction of an associate editor, who will solicit reviews for each submission. The associate editor will ordinarily make a recommendation after receiving three independent reviews. To avoid delays in processing your paper, please follow these guidelines:
- Submissions of manuscripts
- Submission of camera-ready version
- Preparation of the text
- Specific remarks
- Preparation of illustrations
- Proofs
- Copyright form
- Publication of additional material
Submissions of manuscripts
All correspondence concerning submissions is between the author and the Editor-in-Chief. Submitted papers must be in English. Authors should submit electronic version of their papers, in pdf format. To submit your paper for consideration, please visit the submission page.IJCIR is devoted primarily to archival reports of work that have not been published elsewhere. Specifically, conference records and book chapters that have been published previously are not acceptable unless and until they have been enhanced significantly. Please ensure that in the cover letter (comments to editor-in-chief) you state that the work being submitted has not been published elsewhere, nor is it under review currently by another publication.
Papers which are shorter than eight pages in length will not be considered as regular papers. The review of this type of submission will be made subject to a special fast procedure and will only take place if the paper reports about a new development, which is served by rapid publication, relevant comments on articles published in the journal, or about outstanding preliminary results of current research. Authors are requested to make a note of this while submitting the paper.
The final decision on publication is made by the Editor-in-Chief upon recommendation of an Associate Editor and/or an Editorial Board Member. If the manuscript is accepted for publication in IJCIR, the copyright will be transferred to the Journal, and it must not be published elsewhere without the permission of the Editor-in-Chief.
It is hoped that the following notes will be useful during the preparation of your paper for submission. Ensure that the following items are present:
One author is designated as the corresponding author. His/her e-mail address and full postal address is included.
Please, ensure that the uploaded pdf includes all the needed information:
- Keywords
- All figure captions
- All tables (including title, caption, footnotes)
- The manuscript has been properly spell-checked.
- All references follow the same format chosen for the bibliography.
- All references mentioned in the "Reference" list are cited in the text, and vice versa.
- Permission has been obtained for the use of copyrighted material from other sources (including the Web).
Submission of camera-ready versions
IJCIR is a journal from the research community for the research community. We do not have professional staff. Authors must help in getting ready final versions of their papers. When preparing your final version of paper you should adapt your paper to the journal guide style. Please use any of the following document classes or templates:
We do encourage the use of LaTeX, since it makes easier the production of high quality and more standarized output.Preparation of the text
Please write your text in good English. Both American and British usages are accepted, but not a mixture of them. Italics are not to be used for expressions of latin origin, for example, in vivo, et al. per se. Use decimal points (not commas); use a space for thousands. Provide the following data on the title page (in the order given):- Title
- Concise and informative. Titles are often used in information-retrieval systems. Avoid abbreviations and formulae whenever possible.
- Author names and affiliations
- Where the family name may be ambiguos (e.g., a double name), please indicate this clearly. Present the authors' affiliation addresses (where the actual work was done) below the names. Indicate all affiliations with a lower-case superscritp letter immediately after the author's name and in front of the appropriate address. Provide the full postal address of each affiliation, including the country name, and, if available, the e-mail address of each author.
- Corresponding author
- Clearly indicate who is willing to handle correspondence at all stages of the reviewing, publication and post-publication process. Both e-mail and full postal address should be provided.
- Abstract
- A concise and factual abstract is required. The abstract should state briefly the purpose of the research, the methods used, the principal results and major conclusions. An abstract is often presented separate from the article, so it must be able to stand alone. References should therefore be avoided, but if essential, they must be cited in full, without reference to the reference list.
- Keywords
- Immediately after the abstract, provide a maximum of five to ten keywords, using American spelling and avoiding general and plural terms and multiple concepts (avoid, for example, ‘and', ‘of'). Be sparing with abbreviations: only abbreviations firmly established in the field may be eligible. These Keywords will be used for indexing purposes.
- Abbreviations
- Define abbreviations and symbols that are not standard in this field at their first occurrence in the article: in the abstract but also in the main text after it. Ensure consistency of abbreviations throughout the article.
- Paper structure
- Divide your article into clearly defined and numbered sections. Subsections should be numbered I.A, I.B, etc. (the abstract is not included in section numbering). Use this numbering also for internal cross-referencing: do not just refer to "the text." Any subsection may be given a brief heading. Each heading should appear on its own separate line.
- Acknowledgements
- Place acknowledgements, including information on grants received, before the references, in a separate section, and not as a footnote on the title page.
- Figure legends, tables, figures, schemes
- Present these separately from the text, in this order. They are described in more detail below. High-resolution graphics files must always be provided separate from the main text file (see Preparation of illustrations).
Specific remarks
- Mathematical formulae
- Present simple formulae in the line of normal text where possible. In principle, variables are to be presented in italics. Number consecutively any equations that have to be displayed separate from the text (if referred to explicitly in the text).
- Footnotes
- Footnotes should be used sparingly. Number them consecutively throughout the article, using superscript Arabic numbers.
- Tables
- Number tables consecutively in accordance with their appearance in the text. Place footnotes to tables below the table body and indicate them with superscript lowercase letters. Avoid vertical rules. Be sparing in the use of tables and ensure that the data presented in tables do not duplicate results described elsewhere in the article.
- Nomenclature and units
- Follow internationally accepted rules and conventions: use the international system of units (SI). If other quantities are mentioned, give their equivalent in SI.
- References
- Responsibility for the accuracy of bibliographic citations lies entirely with the authors.
- Citations in the text:
- Please ensure that every reference cited in the text is also present in the reference list (and vice versa). Any references cited in the abstract must be given in full. Unpublished results and personal communications should not be in the reference list, but may be mentioned in the text. Citation of a reference as 'in press' implies that the item has been accepted for publication.
- Citing and listing of web references
- As a minimum, the full URL should be given. Any further information, if known (author names, dates, reference to a source publication, etc.), should also be given. Web references can be listed separately (e.g., after the reference list) under a different heading if desired, or can be included in the reference list.
Preparation of illustrations
Submitting your artwork in the correct electronic format helps us to produce your work to the best possible standards, ensuring accuracy, clarity and a high level of detail. General points- Make sure you use uniform lettering and sizing of your original artwork.
- Save text in illustrations as "graphics" or enclose the font.
- Number the illustrations according to their sequence in the text.
- Use a logical naming convention for your artwork files, and supply a separate listing of the files and the software used.
- Produce images near to the desired size of the printed version.
Proofs
Proofs will be made available to the corresponding author and should be returned with one week of receipt. Corrections should be restricted to typesetting errors; any other corrections may be charged to the authors. Authors are advised to check their proofs very carefully before return, since the inclusion of late corrections cannot be acceptable. Corrected proofs are to be returned to the publishers.Copyright form
Each manuscript must be accompanied by a statement that it has been neither published nor submitted for publication, in whole or in part, either in a serial, professional journal or as a part in a book which is formally published and made available to the public. For the mutual benefit and protection of authors and publishers it is necessary that authors provide formal written consent to publish and transfer of copyright before the publication of the article. Previous to the publication of the paper, the authors must download this form, print, and sing it. Then it will be scanned into a pdf file and sent to EiC@ijcir.com.Publication of additional material
IJCIR is an open-access journal. Its goal is to achieve the widest dissemination of knowledge. To better serve this purpose, IJCIR encourage authors to submit along with their papers additional supporting material. Presentations, animations of algorithms or systems, source-code, and/or data-sets are more than welcome. Actually, submissions including any of kind of extra supporting material will receive a higher priority when queued into the review process.^ TOP
